About Joël Dicker

Joël Dicker is a Swiss author celebrated for his compelling thrillers and intricate storytelling. Born on June 16, 1985, in Geneva, Switzerland, Dicker grew up in a French-speaking family and exhibited a passion for writing from an early age. He studied law at the University of Geneva, earning his degree in 2010, but soon pursued his literary aspirations.

Dicker rose to international prominence with The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair (La Vérité sur l’affaire Harry Quebert), published in 2012. This critically acclaimed novel, a literary thriller that explores themes of love, fame, and morality, was awarded the Grand Prix du Roman by the Académie Française and the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens. Translated into over 40 languages, the book became a global bestseller, solidifying Dicker’s reputation as a master storyteller.

He followed this success with several other bestsellers, including The Book of Baltimore (Le Livre des Baltimore), a poignant family saga, and The Enigma of Room 622 (L’Énigme de la chambre 622), a cleverly plotted mystery set in a luxury Swiss hotel. Dicker’s works often blend suspense, psychological depth, and reflections on the nature of truth and memory.

Known for his engaging and accessible prose, Dicker has captivated readers worldwide, earning comparisons to literary greats like John Grisham and Stieg Larsson. Despite his fame, he remains rooted in his Swiss heritage, which frequently influences his narratives.

When not writing, Dicker is an avid traveller and enjoys exploring different cultures, which further enrich his storytelling. Today, he is regarded as one of the most successful contemporary authors from Switzerland.
